2025 CMAT Announcement

2025 CMAT Announcement

As we start to put summer in the rearview mirror and turn our attention to the shorter cooler days of fall, this is an opportunity to reflect on the successes of the past winter and the announcement of 2025 CMAT.

This past winter was characterized by a lack of snow throughout the country, and the world, leading to the cancellation of eleven Masters’ races on the national calendar. In a crazy turn of event, the World Criterium Masters was plagued by too much snow as almost a metre of thick heavy packing snow fell during the training days leading to the postponement of several races. I think we were the only FIS event all year that was cancelled because of too much snow! In the end, we were able to pull off the whole event and get all 12 races in. The Criterium was just one of the many events that took extra work and preparation to pull off and for that I, on behalf of all Masters racers, am grateful to all the organizers and volunteers that ran the races.

Looking forward to this winter season, we are already starting to fill the 2025 calendar with tentative and firm race dates – more on those dates to follow in the fall. It is time to enjoy some dryland training. Whether it be cycling, running, weights or yoga, it’s an opportunity to rest the ski legs and the ski mind. Skiing is but a short 3 or 4 months away but less if you are headed to any of the camps or International FMC races.

Now on to the CMAT announcement. Racers who strive to obtain a spot on the CMAT do so for their own individual and personal reasons. However, each member of 2025 CMAT is to be commended on their participation and results. Five members of the team earned their spot this year by racing in FMC events around the globe. A big thank you to those members for spreading the Canadian spirit around the globe.

Congratulations to the following Masters who met the CMAT criteria and had the top points within their age categories:
